Lasers in Vermilion
NOTICE OF RACE
The regatta will be governed by the 2005-2008 Racing Rules of Sailing, the current rules of the International Laser Class Association(ILCA), the Notice of Race (except as any of these are altered by the sailing instructions) and by the sailing instructions. This regatta is classified ISAF advertising code Category C, Appendix 1.
2.1 This regatta is open to all ages of competitors.
2.2 Current ILCA memberships are required to qualify for Grand Prix points within the Laser class.
2.2 Registration will be held on Fri. May 23rd at 1800 – 2000, and Sat. May 24th at 0730 - 0930

4. FEES:
4.1 Registration Fee is $25.00 per competitor.
4.2 Registration Fee includes light breakfast Saturday and Sunday, as well as famous “Oh Boy” burgers for dinner Saturday night. Trophies are also included in registration.
5.OPTIONAL FEES:
5.1 An International Laser Class Association membership is not required to compete in this event, however it is strongly recommended that if active in the Laser class, and wish to have ones Grand Prix points compiled into the National Standings; memberships are sold at $40 for one year, $75 for a two year, Junior Membership (Will not turn 18 in 2008) One year $35 Two year $65 (member may not turn 19 in 2009)
5.2 Additional Oh Boy dinner tickets may be purchased for $5
5.3 D18 regatta T-Shirts will not be included with registration and will be sold at cost of production.
6. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS AND COURSES:
The Sailing Instructions will be available at registration Fri. May 23rd and Sat. May 24th. Courses are in Sailing Instructions.
7. SCORING:
The Low Point Scoring System, Appendix A2, will be used except that each yacht's series score will be the total of all her scores. A minimum of one race will constitute a regatta.
8. RADIAL CLASS:
The Radial Class will only qualify as a Grand Prix District Event with a total of 7 competitors. Class will start separately with the recommended 5 competitors.
9. PRIZES:
The full Laser class will have awards for the top 3 placers, along with first junior and first female.8.1 Prizes will be awarded to top 3 placers in Radial.
10. LAUNCHING AND HAUL-OUT:
Launching will take place from the East parking lot of Vermilion Boat Club. There will be a ramp and dock in place for boats. Boats should only be launched when one intends to leave for racing, unless pre arranged to dock elsewhere along the river. Boats should not hold up others from launching. Some boats will tow to and from the racecourse. There will be some volunteers helping with pulling out the boats, however is mostly done by competitors.

12. DIRECTIONS:
From the East, West or South: Make your way to the intersection of Rt. 60 at Rt. 2. Go North on Rt. 60 until you come to the 2nd stoplight. Turn right then immediate left, over the RR track to the stoplight (Liberty Ave.). Turn right on Liberty and the Vermilion Boat Club is on the left at 5416 Liberty Ave. Vermilion, OH. 44089
13. PARKING:
Parking for Cars must be on the West Parking lot of the Vermilion Boat Club, or parallel parked in front of the Vermilion Boat Club. There is another event at Vermilion Boat Club, and parking in the east lot should be for members attending the event. Only the Lasers and dollies will be left in east parking lot.
13. SOCIAL:
Vermilion Boat Club Bar will be open Fri. and Sat. Evenings. Saturday’s continental breakfast with burgers to follow Saturdays racing. Awards gathering immediately following Sunday’s races.
15. PURPOSE:
Of course the purpose is to have fun, sail hard, and leave the regatta satisfied. Another purpose of this regatta however, is to benefit the VBC Junior Sail Team. The money made in this regatta will be donated to the VBC Junior Sail Team for whatever they feel necessary. For the registration fee you not only get to race your Laser, but you help build the VBC Junior Race Team, and keep the strong tradition of youth racing at VBC alive and well. Thank you.
